CyberLink's free BD Advisor diagnostic software helps check your PC system is ready to play high-definition Blu-ray Discs.

Solved bySep 18, 2010 21:17 I have updated my 3d vision full cd (graphics and 3d vision are the same)to the current version 260.63 beta. I have updated power dvd mark II to 2113. I have selected the 3d cube and choosen auto detect and side by side view for 3d viewing in 3d options. I have also selected auto detect and nvidia 3d vision lcd monitor for display choices in powerdvd 10 mark ii. Now I have a 3d vision surround (3 displays) setup but have disabled sli so that only one monitor is active to watch movies in nvidia control panel with the resolution at 1920x1080 at 120hz. It even states in the 260.63 beta drivers on the nvidia site that 3d bluray playback is working now. What is happening is that when I go to play blurays in 3d, the 3d cube turns to 2d and no 3d playback happens for bluray although I can playback dvd's in 3d. BTW, I have stereoscopic 3d enabled in nvidia contol panel and have tested numerous times with their setup to make sure that 3d vision is working. And all nvidia compatible games I have are working properly in 3d vision with the goggles. This is now two updates and I cannot watch 3d bluray. Can you provide help and a explanation. Attached is the logs for bluray and 3d bluray playback in the cyberlink bd & 3d advisor along with a dxdiag log.

Hi,
did you run through the 3D Vision setup in the NV control panel again after change the Display setup?
does the BD advisor gives you a green light for all settings?
did you choose the NVIDIA 3D Vision option for oputput (or use auto detection)?

Sep 19, 2010 09:31 Your diagnosis file lists that you are using Windows 7 service pack 1. Is that correct?
I am using Win7 Home Premium with no SP, whereas you have Win 7 Professional, but that should not make a difference. Maybe the service pack does, however, or the multi-monitor? Is the 3D montior you are viewing BluRay with connected to the correct card and port?
With the specs on your machine, I am sure you are not a novice, but sometimes the simplest things get overlooked.
In the 3D setup, mine shows '120Hz Time Sequential 3D LCD' under monitor. I have also set 'Enable Hardware Acceleration' in the options. I am not using Tru-Theater.
I am using version 10.0.1830.51. There is an upgrade available, probably what you have, and now I am hesitant to upgrade in fear it will break my 3D playback again.

Sep 19, 2010 10:44 no, I did not run 3d vision setup in the nv control panel after the display change. I will try that. in my initial post, michael, is the logs from bd & 3d advisor. Being a cyberlink support, I thought you would have looked at those. Also, in my initial post, I described that I used auto detect and nvidia 3d vision ready 120hz monitor as both choices to try to remedy the situation. yes chippe, 2113 is a new upgrade. you can still enable hardware acceleration but the 3d menu is totally different. attached chippe is what 2113 looks like for it's 3d menu. at the bottom, there is a cube that says 3d on it. In it's current form, it's enabled. when I go to watch a bluray movie, it changes to sayingf 3d non-cube angled up to the right which means it's disabled. And that is all there is for 3d setup.

Sep 19, 2010 10:58 Hi,
I guess you want to watch real BD -3D title?
please try the following to narrow down:
0. suggest to set PDVD to use autodetect (btw. 3D vision is not side-by-side)
1. connect only one Monitor
2. run the Display wizard setup for 3D Vision
3. test TT-3D (DVD to 3D conversion)
4. check BD-3D with real BD-3D title
thanks and Br
Michael

Sep 19, 2010 11:07 what I am trying to watch is transformers: revenge of the fallen. It's a regular bd title that I want to watch in 3d. Like I said above I have tried auto detect and side by side for viewing. Neither has worked. dvd to 3d conversion works fine. I will try only connecting one monitor. BTW, I am using tri-sli gtx 480's. It doesn't say that in the log. I don't own any actual 3d bd titles, sorry.

Oh, that's different. I assumed you were trying to watch 3d BD.
If you are trying to convert a 2D movie to 3D, it just does not work. You'll see some wierdness iin the picture, but it is no way 3D.
Have you tried setting to anaglyph Red/Cyan and wearing red/cyan glasses to see if you are seeing any more depth than using just the monitor?
Out of curiousity, I tried watching a 2D movie in 3D conversion, and it just looked awful.

Sep 19, 2010 11:22 Hi,
GOTCHA....
I think there is a missunderstanding on your side about 3D playback.
a reguler (2D) BD can not use TT-3d - so it is not transformed to 3D.
For BD the only way is to have a BD-3D

Michael

Sep 19, 2010 11:30 cyberlink should be a little more specific about their advertising as should arcsoft. They should state that specifically that bluray 3d is for 3d bd titles, even if in a side note on their product page. I kept thinking it was for 3d upscaling of regular bd titles. Because I have am not going to be the only one with this complaint. Michael, something you might want to pass on to marketing/advertising. I am assuming you would need hdmi 1.4 to do regular bd titles to 3d if it were possible, right for the proper bandwidth? sucks that nvidia only put hdmi 1.3 on their gtx 480's. btw, is there a site for a listing of 3d bd titles?
edit: I found a couple of sites that list upcoming and released bluray 3d titles.
here is the link to the site:http://www.3dmovielist.com/3ddvds.html#bluray3d

Sep 19, 2010 16:09 I have had no problems with truetheater and upscaling dvd's to hd and 3d. I know there is a lot to cover on that 3d zone page describing bluray 3d, but the main powerdvd 10 mark 2 page should have a note stating that powerdvd does not upscale blurays to 3d but requires actual bd 3d titles. Also, there should be a reference to a few 3d bd titles that are available so as not to confuse the buyer of powerdvd 10 mark 2. the reason I got confused is that if powerdvd can upscale dvd's 3d and when I saw the bluray 3d, I thought why can't they upscale regular bd titles to 3d too. I am assuming there is IP and copyright fees/laws that cyberlink would have to follow or pay to get such a feature. Because the industry going from dvd to bluray was a big step and will require people to repurchase movies on dvd to bluray. Now less than 4 years later after bluray comes out, the BDA is now saying buy your movies again in 3d bd as I assume the 3d process to make 3d bd will be sped up soon enough and movies will be converted to 3d bd. Again, repurchasing movies even if digitally done. That is where cyberlink or other pc software movie playback companies have to step in and make it more affordable for the desktop and home theatre pc user to do software upscaling of regular bd titles. I would definitely pay the extra money for a ton that I would have to spend on 3d bd title purchases. And you would be doing nvidia a favor by upping their sales of 3d monitors and 3d vision kits. Heck you could market the product together being cyberlink and nvidia instead of relying on each others software/drivers.
